“Magic belongs to everyone as it is a part of our actual lineage,” writes Briana Saussy in her book Making Magic. The art of practical magic is a way of uniting the extraordinary to your everyday life. In this workshop you will learn and experience the 10 elements of magic that will allow you to create ritual and ceremony for any situation. Through Active Imagination meditations, creative writing, and blessing work you will learn to write petitions, set and refine magical goals, create benchmarks for your magical work and more. We'll find the needed medicines that are present in our lives to build a bridge between the material and spiritual worlds through magical rites and spells. In learning the foundational steps to making magic whenever and wherever we need to, we will weave the worlds together so you can walk in both.

Students should bring any items or talismans with them that they work with when doing Active Imagination/Meditative Journey type work. Also have something to write with and something to write on.

Briana Saussy is a writer, teacher, spiritual counselor, and ritualist dedicated to the sacred arts. She combines a practical and creative approach to spirituality that includes the riches of the perennial world religions, the contributions of modern psychology to the search for meaning, and the often overlooked bodies of wisdom contained in folk magic, divination, and storytelling practices. Briana studied Eastern and Western classics, philosophy, mathematics and science at St. John’s College (Annapolis and Santa Fe) and is a student of Ancient Greek and Sanskrit. You can find her online here and purchase her book Making Magic through our online bookshop here.

Registration closes 1 hour before the event begins. You’ll receive a Zoom link the day of the event. Please check your Spam folder if you don't receive. (We recommend whitelisting “@eastwestbooks.org” to be sure to receive our emails.)
