East West’s response to COVID-19

For now, we have decided to continue hosting all our events. We are adhering to Santa Clara County guidelines, and will post here as things change. (Currently, only large events are being asked to cancel; we have no events close to their recommended size)

Here is what we are implementing for events:

  1. All chairs in the event room will be set 5 feet apart.

  2. The bathroom will be open/unlocked during events, to make it easy for everyone to wash their hands. This has been the most effective way of killing the new virus, more effective than hand sanitizer.

  3. Hand sanitizer is also available throughout the store.

  4. Signs are posted, encouraging people to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer.

  5. If people come to an event and appear ill, we’ll (kindly) ask them to leave.

  6. We’ll provide same-day refunds to workshop participants who are ill.

If you feel ill, please stay home. Even if you know you are only experiencing allergy symptoms, or you have a lingering cough from an ancient cold, folks around you will feel more comfortable if you remain home.

Medical experts remind us that hand washing and no face touching is by far the best preventative.

On a happier note, cultivating a positive attitude and reducing stress have also been clinically proven to enhance the immune system.

And where can one generate such an attitude better than at East West?! (ok—you caught me—that was an ad. But a well-meaning one.)

All the best,
David G., manager
